Biography
Elena Sigmund, Professor of Art Education, designer of stained glass and versatile fine art designer was born on December 7, 1981 in the town of Erdenet in Mongolia to a family of a Russian military officer. At the age of 9, she moved with her parents to Smolensk, Russia.
Elena had first shown interest in arts by the early age of four when she began to dance in Youth Ballet, a ballet studio. She began attending music school six years later. After completing primary school, she continued her education at Smolensk Professional High School of Arts, graduated in 2001 and was awarded with the professional title “artist musician - pianist.”
During this time she fell in love with art. In the beginning, fine art was just a hobby for her, but later her artistic knowledge and skills were perfected in courses led by Professor Vladimir Korobov. This is when Elena created her own color scheme of color theory which is also copyrighted (Color spiral of Elena Molodcova©, 30.11.2006). She united music theory with the theory of colors and realized that fine art was going to be her life path.
After successfully completing the entrance examination, for which she had been prepared by under the direction of Professor Ivan Barilo, she enrolled at Smolensk State University. There, she studied art education and graduated in 2008. She obtained the professional title Professor of Art Education, Direction of Fine Art. She graduated with a “gold rating”, which at this university meant a diploma with commendation.
As an artist, Elena worked in a company that developed unique stained glass and mosaics for homes, offices, restaurants, convents, churches and other facilities. At the international exhibition "Palette of friendship" (Smolensk, 2007) Elena was awarded with a diploma of the expert committee for her stained glass ,,Pigeons''. She met Franci Sigmund during her studies, the couple later married and in 2008, Elena moved to Slovenia. At the International Art Competition »Tears of Happiness« (Oxford, 2013) she was awarded with 3rd place for her artwork “Dance with the bird of happiness”.
